In a repeat to the start of the 2014/15 season, Jamie Veal has once again set the Sydney Sprintcar scene on fire with a commanding victory in round two of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship at Valvoline Raceway on Saturday night.
Veal was rarely challenged in the 30 lap final, leading every lap, and was followed home Robbie Farr who turned around an average main event last week and Darryl Campbell had his best night in a long time finishing third.
Campbell was exceptionally impressive, running second for almost half of the race before Farr took over second. It was then an intense battle between Campbell and Ian Loudoun all the way to the chequered flag.
Loudoun eventually had to settle for fourth, after briefly passing Campbell for third in the closing laps. Fifth home was Max Dumesny followed by Marty Perovich, South Australian Steven Lines, Sam Walsh, Max Johnston who was battling for a podium before being shuffled back at a restart and Alex Orr recorded his best finish position this season coming home tenth.
Eleventh was Garry Brazier, twelfth was Grant Anderson and Jackson Delamont repeated last week’s effort finishing thirteenth. Ben Atkinson was next followed by Jordyn Brazier, Danny Reidy, Craig Brady and Adrian Maher was the final classified finisher.
Non finishers were Jeremy Cross, James Thompson, James McFadden, Toby Bellbowen, Matt Smith and Warren Ferguson.
Earlier in the night, heat race wins went to Veal, Loudoun, Max Johnston and Campbell. Marcus Dumesny won his first race ever in a Sprintcar in the first non-qualifiers and South Australian Glen Sutherland took the win in the second of the non-qualifiers.
The D-Main saw Shane Sheedy take the win, Blake Skipper was impressive in winning the C-Main and Jackson Delamont led home the B-Main.
The next event on the Sprintcar Association of NSW calendar is this coming Saturday night, October 17 for round three of the Ultimate Sprintcar Championship NSW.
